Hello new friends! My name is Suzie Edwards.  I am the mom of boy/girl twins and a third baby girl.  My little boy (one of my twins) went to heaven when he was two.  I am a personal trainer, certified Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, certified MUTU Pro™, and certified Postpartum Fitness Specialist.  I have been training mamas and obsessing over their results for the past 5 years.  I built AlphaMamas Fitness just for moms out of my own need for a postpartum, restorative fitness program.  After my twins were born, I found myself with a 4 finger DR and a core that just plain didn’t work anymore.  My back hurt, my belly pooched, and I felt completely lost and unrecognizable in this new body.  My OB told me that I’d probably need surgery.  He said to wait to 2 years and see if I still cared about my belly pooch then do surgery that point. Worst.advice.ever.  Of course I cared!  

I went home that day from the doctor and started googling.  I began learning at warp-speed and educated myself on all things postpartum,  I found MUTU System at that point and dove in head first.  Thanks to MUTU, I had hope that I could actually heal my DR without surgery.  And I did!  I regained function, closed my DR to 2 fingers, and was able to run again without pain.  I certified as a MUTU Pro 10 months later, and haven’t stopped learning since. I hold 4 postpartum fitness certifications and have learned and trained under the best PTs and mentors in the world.  I’ve healed my owned DR and now I’m privileged to help other moms get strong, fit and functional, and to love their body again.  My clients have seen excellent results and I love being part of their journey.

I understand the unique fitness challenges that new moms face after childbirth, including diastasis recti, which I developed pretty severely after both pregnancies (thank you babies), pelvic floor weakness (think peeing when I sneezed), and lower abdominals that just plain decided to take an eternal vacation (causing a lovely belly pooch).  Pregnancy and childbirth can wreak havoc on any mama’s core, no matter how fit they were before or during pregnancy.  Postural Changes, hormone changes, and so many other uncontrollable factors requires a post partum body to need special attention to regain strength and function after baby. 

I know first-hand the challenges of trying to restore fitness while a brand new baby (or babies, in my case) consumes your time, energy and effort.  But, there is hope!  Let AlphaMamashelp you look and feel stronger and more confident without spending hours at the gym. That’s right, personal fitness training along with excercises you can do in your home, on your schedule, equipment and babies included!

I’ve been an avid distance runner for 17 years.  I’ve run 10 marathons, 2 half marathons, and countless 5 and 10K races.  I’ve trained with and been coached by the pros, and love to coach mama runners who have a passion for running and want to get back to it after baby.  I know what it takes to get my clients running strong, fast, and safe again so that they can return to what they love with confidence, freedom, and enjoyment.  It takes core and pelvic floor work, strength training, muscle endurance, posture training, and more. I’d love to help you find your best, most awesome running self!
